COCO-agepan
A moment to unwind in the city.
Located in Jingumae, Shibuya, COCO-agepan serves light fried agepan prepared with 100% coconut oil and beet sugar, along with the limited-quantity Harajuku Special stuffed with whipped cream, authentic chai, and Uji matcha lattes.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The agepan at COCO-agepan in Jingumae 5-chome offers the comforting warmth and airy crispness unique to fresh frying. Made with 100% coconut oil for frying and sweetened with beet sugar, these fried bread rolls carry a rustic, gentle flavor without the heavy greasy feeling typical of fried fare. The selection includes familiar classics such as plain sugar, kinako (roasted soy flour), cinnamon, cocoa, and matcha, so you can pick whatever suits your mood. The coconut version, coated in a mix of shredded coconut and sugar, adds a crunchy texture and sweet aroma that creates an appealing contrast against the dough.
For an extra treat, look to the Harajuku Special, prepared in limited quantities. Fluffy whipped cream is piped into a freshly fried, hot koppe-pan roll, offering a delightful interplay of hot pastry and cool cream in every bite. Acai bowls topped with fruits like berries, mango, coconut, and goji berries are also on hand when you want something refreshing and fruity.
The drink menu offers great companions for the agepan. Highlights include chai tea made with carefully selected tea leaves, and a rich Uji matcha latte prepared using matcha blended by a historic Kyoto tea purveyor. You can also customize your beverage by swapping milk for soy milk, almond milk, or oat milk. Drip coffee, decaf options, and seasonal drinks such as matcha lemonade—balancing crisp acidity with a light touch of matcha bitterness—round out the lineup and can be ordered as a combo set with your agepan.
Takeaway is available, and cashless payment methods such as credit cards, PayPay, and Rakuten Pay are accepted. Stopping by while strolling through the Harajuku and Omotesando area to enjoy one while it is still warm makes for an easy, pleasant detour.
